Nursing Workshop Series

Our Nursing Workshop series covers the topics and skills you need to know, with regular sessions from Week 2 to 7 and Week 10 of Spring session.

These course-aligned academic skills workshops are designed to help you develop the skills needed for successful completion of assessment tasks now and throughout your studies.

Topics and skills covered are included in each delivery location schedule.

Foundation skills: Researching and referencing

Build your research skills using databases and learn how to reference in APA7 style.

Structuring a response: Essay structure and effective paragraphs

Understand the importance of structure when writing an essay, from introduction to conclusion (SNUG.106).

Cohesive writing: Transition signals and integration of evidence in a paragraph + a focus on effective group work

Learn about transition signals and how to integrate evidence effectively in your paragraphs, plus a focus on group work (SNUG.106).

Presentation skills and video production

Learn effective ways to structure your script through PowerPoint slides, and how to present your ideas orally to deliver a compelling presentation (SNUG.105 & SNUG.107).

Reflective writing and editing skills

How to write a reflective essay: From personal beliefs to professional practice (SNUG.106).

Presentation skills and face-to-face group work delivery

Learn how to deliver a face-to-face group presentation, manage stress and speak with confidence (SNUG.106).

Preparing for placement and interpreting tutor feedback for reflective practice

This workshop is about making the most of placement and keeping a journal for critical, reflective practice (SNUG.108).
